Antique Belleek Irish porcelain chamberpot printed in black transfer to the interior with a quarter-length portrait of Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone.
1st Period mark (1863-1890) and registration lozenge to base.
Gladstone was a Liberal leader and Prime Minister, who swiftly developed into a hate figure amongst many Unionists due to his repeated attempts to legislate for Home Rule. This piece was commissioned by Unionists who made their opinion of him quite clearly with this satirical piece
