Renowned Belfast-born artist, Maurice C. Wilks was born in 1910. he studied at the Belfast College Of Art. He was elected Associate at the Royal Hibernian Academy and was elected to full member of the Royal Ulster Academy. He was inspired by Irish painters Paul Henry and J.H Craig. His landscapes were predominantly romanticised mountain and costal scenes, particularly Donegal, Kerry & Antrim. His work can be found in many public collections including The Ulster Museum and the Office Of Public Works, Dublin.
